  Gerard II van Gelre (circa 1090 -16 oktober 1133). Hij was de zoon van Gerard I van Gelre en Clementia van Aquitanië. Gerard was als Gerard V heer van Wassenberg en als Gerard II graaf van Gelre 1129 tot zijn dood. Gerard ligt begraven in de kerk van Wassenberg.
  
  Hij trouwde in 1116 met Ermgard van Zutphen, de erfdochter van het graafschap Zutphen (gebied ten oosten van de IJssel en talrijke buitenposten in Friesland, Westfalen en het Rijnland).
  
  Ermgard van Zutphen († 1138) Ermgard was de dochter van graaf Otto II van Zutphen uit zijn tweede huwelijk met Judith van Arnstein. Na het kinderloze overlijden van haar broer Hendrik I werd Ermgard in 1118 gravin van Zutphen haar dood in 1138. Gerard en Ermgard kregen drie kinderen:
  1 Adelheid, trouwde met graaf Ekbert van Tecklenburg.
  2 Hendrik I (-1182), graaf van Gelre en Zutphen.
  3 Salomea (-1167), trouwde met graaf Hendrik I van Wildeshausen
  
  Ermgard hertrouwde na de dood van Gerard II in 1134 met graaf Koenraad II van Luxemburg (-1136). Dit huwelijk bleef kinderloos.
