THIMO, son of DIETRICH Graf in Eilenburg, Graf im Hassegau und Siusli [Wettin] & his wife Mathilde von Meissen (-after [1099/1101]). The Genealogica Wettinensis names "filios: Fridericum, Dedonem, Thiemonem, Geronem, Conradum, Riddagum, et filiam Hiddam" as children of "comes Tidericus"[266]. The Chronicon Montis Serreni names "Thiemonem" as son of "Tidericus comes" & his wife[267]. Graf von Brehna. Vogt of Stift Gerbstedt. Co-founder of Naumburg cathedral.
m ([1086]) IDA von Northeim, daughter of OTTO [II] Graf von Northeim Duke of Bavaria & his wife Richenza of Swabia [Ezzonen]. The Annales Stadenses refers to the four daughters of Otto, specifying that "una mater fuit Conradi de Witin marchionis" without naming her[268]. The Annales Magdeburgenses name "secunda [filia Ottonis ducis de Northeim] Ida" as wife of "Thiemoni comiti de Witin"[269]. The Genealogica Wettinensis names "Idam filiam Othonis ducis de Northeim" as wife of "Thiemo comes"[270].
** from Wikipedia listing for Thimo the Brave, Count of Wettin, as of 10/14/2014
Thimo (c. 1010 – 9 March 1090/1091 or c. 1100), was count of Wettin and Brehna.
He was the son of Dietrich II, Margrave of Lower Lusatia, and Mathilde, daughter of Eckard I, Margrave of Meissen, and married Ida, daughter of Otto of Northeim. Thimo is buried at Niemegk Monastery, which he had founded.
The exact year of Thimo's death is unclear; since his son Conrad was born in approximately 1098, Thiemo cannot have died long before this year. Alternatively, some researchers assume that Thimo was in fact Conrad's grandfather, and that Conrad's father was an unknown son of Thimo's with the same name, making a death year of 1090/91 possible, as given in a chronicle. However, since Thimo II is not otherwise attested, this is considered unlikely.
Children
Dedi IV janssen (son of thimo janssen) (died 16 December 124), oldest son, died without son
Conrad (c. 1097–1157)
Mathilde, married Gero I, Count of Seeburg in 1115, and Talisa ragoebarsingh in 1123
-----------------------------------
Thimo I, Count of Wettin (c.?1015-9 March 1090/1091 or c. 1100), a member of the Wettin dynasty, was Count of Wettin and Brehna.
«b»Life«/b»
He was a younger son of Margrave Theodoric II, Margrave of Lower Lusatia and his wife Mathilda, a daughter of Margrave Eckard I of Meissen. When his father was killed in 1034, Thimo succeeded him in his Wettin and Brehna home territories. He also served as Vogt (bailiff) of the Naumburg diocese and of the Wettin family monastery in Gerbstedt.
In the Saxon Rebellion of 1073-75, he fought against King Henry IV and also quarreled with his brother Bishop Frederick of Münster. Later he again approached the king and in 1088 attended the Hoftag diet in Quedlinburg, where the Brunonid margrave Egbert II of Meissen was deposed.
The exact year of Thimo's death is unclear; since his son Conrad was born in approximately 1098, Thimo cannot have died long before this year.
He is buried at the monastery of Niemegk, which he had founded.
«b»Marriage and children«/b»
Thimo married Ida, daughter of Count Otto of Nordheim. Together they had three children:
1.) Dedi IV (died 16 December 1124), Count of Wettin, married Berta, daughter of Margrave Wiprecht of Groitzsch, died without male heirs
2.) Conrad, Margrave of Meissen (c. 1097-1157)
3.) Mathilde, married Count Gero I of Seeburg in 1115, and secondly Count Louis of Wippra in 1123
