A. MARKGRAFEN von STEIERMARK
OTAKAR, son of OTAKAR [V] Graf [im Chiemgau] & his wife --- ([1015/20]-Rome 29 Mar [1075]). The Genealogia Marchionum de Stire records that "Otacher marchio Styriensis, filius Otachyr marchionis, genuit Ozy marchionem" specifying that he was powerful "temporibus imperatorum Heinrici III imperatoris" and was father of "Otachyr marchionem"[681]. Graf im Chiemgau 1048.
"Heinricus…Romanorum imperator augustus" granted hunting rights in "forestum infra terminus…in comitatu Otacchari situm, ipse vero Otaccharo et Pilihilda vidua Sizonis comitis duobusque filiis eius Sigehardo et Friderico et domina Iudita filiisque eius Sigehardo, Engilberto, Marchuuardo et Meginhardo, Sigebotone, Gerloho et Sigeboldo fratribusque suo Hoholdo et coniuge sua, Bennone, Marchuuardo, Adalfrido fratreque suo Enzemanno…predia circumquaque id ipsum forestum" to the church of Salzburg by charter dated 9 Apr 1048[682].
He is named OTAKAR I Markgraf of Styria [Markgraf der Kärnter Mark] and Vogt von Lambach. "Heinricus…Romanorum imperator augustus" granted property "in marcha et in comitatu Otacharii marchionis sita" to the church of Brixen by charter dated 20 Feb 1056[683].
"Heinricus…rex" granted property "in villa Gvzbretdesdorf et deorsum Svarzaha…in marcha Karentana et in comitatu Otacheres marchionis" to "fideli nostro Cvono" by charter dated 26 Oct 1058[684].
"Heinricus…rex" granted property "in marchionis Otacheres marchia Carintina in villa…Gunprehtesteten" to the church of Salzburg by charter dated 1 Jun 1059[685]. “Oezo marchio de Styre...” witnessed the charter dated to [1073] under which “Ernestus Austriæ marchio” donated revenue from “prædium...in Wykendorff” to Kloster Melk[686]. The necrology of Admunt records the death "IV Kal Apr" of "Otacher marchio"[687].
m WILLIBIRG, daughter of --- ([1020/30]-19 Feb or 27 Aug ----). "Otacher marchio, qui rome situs est…per manum marchionisse Williburge" donated a wood to "ecclesie Garstensi", undated[688]. Wegener suggests that she was Willibirg of Carinthia, daughter of Adalbero I Duke of Carinthia [Eppensteiner] & his wife Beatrix of Swabia [Konradiner], on the basis of transmission of the name Willibirg into the Eppenstein family from the Grafen von Ebersberg and the fact that her son was named Adalbero[689], but this speculation is not substantiated.
Her birth date range is estimated from the birth of her supposed mother in [995/1003]. The necrology of St Lambert records the deaths "VIII Kal Feb", "XI Kal Mar" and "VI Kal Sep" of "Willibirch com"[690], but if any of these entries relates to the wife of Markgraf Otakar I it is surprising that Willibirg is not referred to as "marchionissa".
Markgraf Otakar I & his wife had two children:
1. ADALBERO (-killed 28 Nov [1080/82]).
2. OTAKAR ([1050/60]-28 Nov 1122).

Spouse(s) Willibirg of Eppenstein
Father Count Otakar V in the Chiemgau
Mother (?), Countess of Wels-Lambach
Ottokar I, also Otakar (died 29 March 1075) was count in the Bavarian Chiemgau and Margrave of Styria from 1056 until his death. He became progenitor of the dynasty of the Otakars.
Biography
He was the son of Count Otakar V in the Chiemgau (died 1020) and his wife, a daughter of Count Arnold II of Wels-Lambach who had been appointed margrave upon the deposition of Duke Adalbero of Carinthia by Emperor Conrad II in 1035.
Ottokar is documented as a count in the eastern Chiemgau about 1048. By his mother he inherited extended allodial lands and the margravial title in the Traungau region around the fortress of Steyr. He also served a Vogt (reeve) of the Lambach, Traunkirchen, Obermünster, and Persenbeug monasteries and was co-founder of Admont Abbey.
From 1056, he appeared as margrave of the Carantanian march, later to be known as the March of Styria (German: Steiermark, after the town of Steyr, where Ottokar was count). In the rising Investiture Controversy he remained a loyal supporter of King Henry IV. Ottokar died in Rome, while on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land.
Marriage and children
He married Willibirg of Eppenstein, possibly a daughter of Duke Adalbero of Carinthia. The later margraves Adalbero and Ottokar II were his sons. The elder Adalbero succeeded his father but fell out with his younger brother Ottokar II during the Investiture Controversy, was banned and finally murdered in 1082.
