=== Life Sketch ===
Lambert II (died Tournai, June 19, 1054) was count of Louvain between 1033 and 1054. Lambert was the son of Lambert I of Louvain (d. 1015).
He was the son of Eustace I, Count of Bologne and of Maud de Leuven (daughter of Lambert I of Leuven). c.?1053 he married Adelaide of Normandy, Countess of Aumale, daughter of Robert I, Duke of Normandy and sister of William the Conqueror. Adelaide was the widow of Enguerrand II, Count of Ponthieu who died in 1053. c.?1054 Lambert and Adelaide had a daughter, Judith of Lens, although Lambert would scarcely have seen her; he was killed at the battle of Lille in 1054. Lambert was supporting Baldwin V, Count of Flanders against Henry III, Holy Roman Emperor when he was killed in battle. His widow, Adelaide, married thirdly, Odo, Count of Champagne.
According to the Vita Gudilae (recorded between 1048-1051) he followed his brother Henry I of Louvain. Lambert scorned both temporal and spiritual authorities and in 1054 even took up arms against Holy Roman Emperor Henry III. He was defeated and lost his life at Tournai.
During his reign Brussels began its growth. Lambert arranged to transfer the remains of Saint Gudule to the St. Michael church. This church, thereafter known as Saints-Michel-et-Gudule, developed to become St. Michael and Gudula Cathedral. Lambert also constructed a fortress on the Coudenberg hill.
Since Lambert II died in 1054, an imperial charter of September 1062 connecting a certain Lambert to the county Brussels, is probably referring to another person.
Family
Lambert of Louvain married Uda of Lorraine (also called Oda of Verdun), daughter of Gothelo I, Duke of Lorraine. Their children were:
1.) Henry II, Count of Louvain who married Adela of Orthen, a daughter of Count Everard of Orthen (or Betuwe).
2.) Adela of Louvain, married Otto I, Margrave of Meissen, Count of Weimar. Later married Dedi I, Margrave of the Saxon Ostmark.
3.) Reginar (Rainier) of Louvain. Killed in the battle of Hesbaye in 1077.
From Findagrave; Lambert II was the Count of Leuven. He was the son of Lambert I of Leuven and Gerberga of Lower Lorraine, the daughter of Charles of Lower Lorraine and Adelaide of Troyes. During his reign Brussels began its growth. Lambert arranged to transfer the remains of Saint Gudule to the St. Michael church, now known as St. Michael and Gudula Cathedral. Lambert also constructed a fortress on the Coudenberg hill. Lambert married Oda of Verdun, the daughter of Gozelo I and Urraca of Italy. According the Vita Gudilae (recorded between 1048-1051) he followed his brother Henry I of Leuven. Lambert scorned both temporal and spiritual authorities and in 1054, he took up arms against Holy Roman Emperor Henry III. He was defeated and lost his life at Tournai.

=== Cawley's (2006) bio ===
GEBHARD [II] (-[killed] [1085], bur Kloster Kastl). Graf von Sulzbach. "Gebehart comes de Sulzpach" witnessed the charter dated 1071 under which Kloster Banz was founded[1784]. The 14th century Deutsche Reimchronik of Kloster Kastel records that Ernst Duke of Swabia (presumably indicating Duke Ernst I, father of Duke Hermann IV) had “ain Suen...Gebhardus...Sultzpach”[1785]. No other primary source has been found which indicates any family relationship between the Babenberger dukes of Swabia and the Grafen von Sulzbach, and as noted above it is suggested that the Deutsche Reimchronik represents a fantasised version of the connection. Wegener highlights the absence of proof that Gebhard [II] was the son of Gebhard [I][1786]. Graf von Sulzbach. The Deutsche Reimchronik of Kloster Kastel records that “Hern Perngers Vater Her Gebhart” was killed by “dem rauhen Graven”[1787]. No indication has been about which “Raugraf” this text relates. No primary source has been identified which confirms Gebhard’s date of death. The year shown [1085] shown above is speculative, based on the likely chronology of his widow’s third marriage. m (after Aug 1078) as her [first/second] husband, IRMGARD von Rott, [widow of HEINRICH [I] von Lechsgemünd,] daughter of KUNO [I] von Rott Pfalzgraf von Bayern & his wife Uta --- (-14 Jun [1101], bur Kastl). The Fundatio Monasterii Berchtesgadensis names "mater comitis Perengarii, Irmingart" as founder of the monastery[1788]. The 14th century Deutsche Reimchronik of Kloster Kastel names “Yrmgart” as wife of “Grave Gebhart von dem Sultzpach”[1789]. She married [secondly/thirdly] Kuno Graf von Horburg. The necrology of Baumburg records the death "XVII Kal Jul" of "Irengardis com de Sultzpach sor na"[1790]. The Latin Chronicle of Kloster Kastel records the death “XVIII Kal Jul” 1123 of “domina Irmgardis comitissa de Sulzbach” and her burial “in monasterio Scti Petri in Kastello”[1791]. Graf Gebhard [II] & his wife had [two] children:
a) BERENGAR [III] ([1080]-3 Dec [1125], bur Kastl). The 14th century Deutsche Reimchronik of Kloster Kastel records that “Gebhardus...Sultzpach” had “ainon Suon...Grafe Bernger”[1792]. Graf von Sulzbach.
- see below.
b) [ADELHEID (-before 9 Jul 1133). Wegener suggests that the wife of Sigiboto [II] was the daughter of Gebhard [II] Graf von Sulzbach only, it appears, because the name Adelheid was used frequently in the family of the Grafen von Sulzbach[1793]. This must be considered highly speculative as Adelheid was far from an unusual name in southern Germany during the 12th century and many other family connections could explain the name transmission. m as his second wife, SIGIBOTO [II] von Weyarn, son of SIGIBOTO [I] Graf an der Mangfall & his wife Liutgard --- (-10 Feb 1136).]

=== 1 NAME Lambert II Balderik /van Leuven/ ===
1 NAME Lambert II Balderik /van Leuven/
Lambert II, bijgenaamd Balderik (?
