=== Life Sketch ===
Luitgarde of Vermandois (c.?914-February 9, 978) was a French noblewoman. She was a countess of Vermandois by birth and a duchess consort of Normandy by her first marriage, and a countess consort of Blois by her second. She was a daughter of Herbert II of Vermandois, and Adele, daughter of Robert I of France. She first married William I of Normandy in 940. This marriage was childless. As a widow, following his death in 942, she married Theobald I of Blois in 943.
She had four children from her second marriage:
1.) Theobald (d. 962)
2.) Hugh, Archbishop of Bourges (d. 985)
3.) Odo (d. 996), count of Blois
4.) Emma (d. 1003), married William IV of Aquitaine

I'm giving Luitgarde another spouse that matches Frank Bouley's data at Rootsweb; I suspect that Thibaut II is really Theobald I, but parentage doesn't agree with Brian Tompsett; it might work if a few generations were inserted in Frank's data.

* Hugh, Archbishop of Bourges (d.985)

=== Luitgarde de Vermandois, n.i. [no issue ===
Luitgarde de Vermandois, n.i. [no issue with William I of Normandy],killed 942 by Louis, s. of Charles III "the Simple", daughter of HerbertII, Count of Vermandois and Troyes. [Ancestral Roots, Line 121e-19] (AsI said 942, is probably talking about her 1st husband William's death. Iam disregarding it.)
Luitgarde de Vermandois, d. aft. 978, widow of William I, of Normandy,and daughter of Herbert II de Vermandois. [Ancestral Roots, Line 49-19]
Luitgarde de Vermandois, d. aft. 978; m. (2) 943 Theobald I, "leTricheur", d. 978, Count of Blois. [Ancestral Roots, Line 136-19]
Note: line 121e does not agree with the other two lines in Luitgarde'sdeath date. I believe that it is in error, maybe referring to WilliamI's death in 942. Also note that Theobald I, Count of Blois, wasinvolved in William I's treachorous ambush and murder in 942 and marriedLuitgarde, his widow, the next year 943.
