  When Richard De Rodès I was born in 0977, in Rodès, Pyrénées-Orientales, Languedoc-Roussillon, France, his father, Bérenger De Milhaud II, was 52 and his mother, Richilde De Rodez, was 49. He married Sénégonde de Béziers about 1002, in France. They were the parents of at least 1 son. He died in July 1049, in his hometown, at the age of 72.

"Ricardus vice comes" donated the church of Severiago "in pago Ruthenico" to the abbey of Conques by charter dated to Jul [996/1031][2071]. A charter dated 28 Jul 1013 records a hearing of a claim by "Richardus per vocem uxoris suæ Senegundis" in Béziers against "Garsindis comitissa" who refers to property granted to her by "pater meus dominus Villelmus vicecomes"[2072].

The testament of "Guillelmus vicecomes", dated 990, appointed "…Arsindis vicecomitissa…" among his executors and named "filia sua Garsindis…filia mea Senegundis"[2073]. A charter dated 28 Jul 1013 records a hearing of a claim by "Richardus per vocem uxoris suæ Senegundis" in Béziers against "Garsindis comitissa" who refers to property granted to her by "pater meus dominus Villelmus vicecomes"[2074]. The primary source which confirms the identity of Senegonde's mother has not yet been identified, although it is implied from the testament of her father dated 990.
