=== Life Sketch ===
Fredelo,[1] Fridolo,[2] or Frigidolo[3] (died 852) was the first Count of Toulouse (844–852) of the dynasty of Rouergue.
Son of Fulcoald of Rouergue and Senegund, daughter of Alda, sister of William of Gellone, Fredelo was related to the families of the counts of Rouergue and Toulouse.
In 840, Fulcoald died, but Fredelo was not confirmed as his successor in Rouergue. But when Bernard of Septimania was captured by Charles the Bald for rebellion against his lord and executed in 844, the king bestowed his county of Toulouse on Fredelo. Pepin II of Aquitaine, who was leading the revolt against Charles, appointed Bernard's heir William to the county of Toulouse. Of the two claimants to Toulouse, William had the upper hand. In 849, however, William was in Barcelona and Charles invaded Aquitaine. Fredelo, then in control of Toulouse, taking advantage of William's absence, opened the gates of the city to his sovereign and was reconfirmed in his possession of it.
Fredelo received the County of Carcassonne in 850 and died in 852, leaving his titles to his brother Raymond. By his wife Oda, he left one daughter named Udalgarda who married Bernard Plantapilosa.

Note: The first counts of Rouergue have the favor of Charles the Bald who also gives them the county of Toulouse . The Capitular of Quierzy , promulgated in 876 , will allow the inheritance of the county function.
They should not be confused with the Counts of Rodez , who appeared in the 12th century . When the county of Rouergue was united with the county of Toulouse, the count of Toulouse and Rouergue placed a viscount in Rodez, capital of Rouergue . This viscount takes on more importance over time and buys rights to the count when the latter goes on a crusade, and is then called count of Rodez .
Before Raimondins
A few counts are mentioned sporadically before the reign of Charles the Bald :
585 : Nicetius , removed from the county of Auvergne , he is instituted Duke of Auvergne, Rodez and Uzès by Childebert II .
around 795 : Gibert
before 821 : Autric, count in Rouergue or in Quercy ?
before 838 : Witbald, count in Rouergue.
First counts Raimondins
Foucaud († after 837), Count of Rouergue,
married to Sénégonde (probably niece of Guillaume de Gellone by Héribert ).
???-852 : Frédolon († between 849 and 852), count of Toulouse and Rouergue, son of the preceding.
852-865 : Raimond I ( † beforeApril 17, 865), count of Toulouse and Rouergue, marquis ( comes et marchio ), brother of the preceding. Married to Berthe, he had as son Bernard le Veau, Foucher , founder of the House of Limoges and Eudes (read below). He founded in 862 the Abbey of Vabres .
865-874 : Bernard le Veau († 874 ) count of Toulouse and Rouergue, son of the preceding.
Interlude by Bernard Plantevelue († 886 )
877 - 918 : Eudes de Rouergue († 918 ) Count of Toulouse and Rouergue, son of Raimond I and brother of the preceding, married to Garsinde d'Albi
918 - after 935 : Ermengaud , Count of Rouergue, son of the preceding, married to Adelaide of Carcassonne.

961 - 1010 : Raimond III († 1010 ), count of Rouergue, son of the preceding, married to Richarde, probably related to the viscounts of Millau
1010 - 1052 : Hugues I ( † 1054 ), Count of Rouergue, son of the preceding, married to Foy de Cerdagne
1054 - 1065 : Berthe († 1065 ) Countess of Rouergue, daughter of the preceding, married to Robert II , Count of Auvergne and Clermont .
Between 1065 and 1080 , Rouergue was conquered by Raimond de Saint-Gilles, brother of the Count of Toulouse Guillaume IV (v. 1040 † 1092 ) . This is a reunification for the benefit of the Toulouse branch of the Raimondins.

According to a tradition going back to Geoffroi de Vigeois , Raimond IV would have hired in 1096 , to leave for the first crusade , part of the county of Rouergue to the viscount of Millau. This will be called Count of Rodez . In fact, this engagement is not attested until 1112, for the benefit of Viscount Richard .

He took part in the recapture of Toulouse by Charles II "le Chauve" King of the West Franks from Pepin II King of Aquitaine in 845. “Fridelo...comes et marchio” granted immunities to “monasterio...Villanova...super fluvium Nocana” by charter dated to [848/Apr 849][201]. “Fredelo...comes et marchio” confirmed the possessions of the monastery of Gerri by charter dated Apr 849[202]. The king appointed Fredelon as Governor of Toulouse [850]-[852] and he used the title “Custos Civitatis” of Toulouse. m ---. The name of Fredelon's wife is not known.
