The oldest title that speaks of Aussonne is an act of exchange between King Philippe le Bel and a certain Géraud Balène, a Quercy knight whom the king had appointed superintendent of finances in the seneschalsy of Toulouse. To free himself from the debts he owed to the king, Géraud Balène gave him a certain number of his lands, including Aussonne. The first of a long series of exchanges between noble families. The last lord of Aussonne was Samuel-Jacques-Louis-Jean-François d'Aussonne. Lawyer and adviser to the Parliament of Toulouse who was condemned to death in 1794 by the Revolutionary Court of Paris.
