=== Victim of a Sea Monster ===
Hildegonde would be the wife of Clodion the Hairy.
Around 660, Fredegaire mentions her without naming her as the wife of Clodion, victim of a sea monster (The Quinotaur). Desmarets de Saint-Sorlin, a 17th century poet, was the first to name her, taking up the myth of the sea monster and the so-called daughter of a Danish king. In the 20th century, Jacques Saillot said she was the daughter of a Lombard king (in The sons and grandsons of Clovis and their alliances - theses and hypotheses) or of Marcomir, king of the Ripuarian francs and of the Lombard princess Hildegonde (in The 16 quarters of French queens and empresses, 1977).
Sixteen quarters by Jacques Saillot, in "The 16 quarters of French queens and empresses", 1977, p. 9)
