SAUL was KING for THIRTY-TWO YEARS
and DAVID was KING for FOURTY YEARS.
David (c. 1035BC-970BC) was the second king of the ancient United Kingdom of Israel who helped establish the eternal throne of God. An ancient leader, David was know for his passion of God, hos moving, emotional Psalms, his inspiring bravery and experience in war. He is also noted for his handsome appearance, his illicit relationship with Bathsheba, and his direct connection to Jesus of Nazareth in the New Testament. Born around 1000 B.C., David was the eighth child of Jesse, of the tribe of Judah. David reigned for 40 years, the same amount as did King Saul and his son, King Solomon. David was king during on of the most prosperous times in the entire Israelite history, called by many as Israel's "Golden Age". Although he is often presented as wicked and sinful like the kings of Israel that preceded and followed him, in Judaism and Christianity, King David is spoken of in various books of the Bible (where most of the information about him is currently) as a kingly model of righteousness, repentance, and also submission to God's will. As well as the precursor to the Messiah: the "Annointed" Jew and champion of his people.

Israelite King. Born in Bethlehem, the youngest of eight sons of Jesse, tribe of Judah, and grandson of Boaz and Ruth. According to legend, while serving his family duties, he became known as a talented psalmist and musician. As such, he was taken to court to play for the king, becoming a court favorite, and was made King Saul's armor bearer. During the Israelite's conflict with the neighboring Philistines, David was said to have met and defeated their greatest warrior in single combat. His fame, popularity, and friendship with the Israelite prince, Jonathan, all lent toward King Saul's eventual obsessive hatred of his former favorite. David married the king's younger daughter, and survived several murder attempts, before being forced to flee. After years in exile, the king and his son were killed in the Battle of Mount Gelboe, leaving David the anointed heir. Accepted as king by Judea, the southern kingdoms fell in behind another son of Saul, Isboseth, inciting a civil war. It was only with Isboseth's death almost a decade later did David become ruler of a united kingdom. He was credited with creating in Israel an independent successful state, extending Israel's lands in the north, defeating the Philistines, giving Israel a capital, a court, a great center of religion, having several notable affairs and marriages, and having two famous sons among many, Absalom and Solomon. After a rule of some thirty-three years, David died in his capitol at Jerusalem. Tradition has it that he was buried on Mount Sion (Zion), just outside the walls, though others argue that he was actually buried within the City of David. He was succeeded by his son Solomon.

Publication: Name: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David;
Note: David (Hebrew: דָּוִד)[a] is described in the Hebrew Bible as the third king of the United Monarchy of Israel and Judah, becoming king after Ish-bosheth. In the Books of Samuel, David is a young shepherd who gains fame first as a musician and later by killing the enemy champion Goliath. He becomes a favorite of King Saul and a close friend of Saul's son Jonathan. Worried that David is trying to take his throne, Saul turns on David. After Saul and Jonathan are killed in battle, David is anointed as King. David conquers Jerusalem, taking the Ark of the Covenant into the city, and establishing the kingdom founded by Saul. As king, David commits adultery with Bathsheba, leading him to arrange the death of her husband Uriah the Hittite. Because of this sin, David's son Absalom tries to overthrow him. David flees Jerusalem during Absalom's rebellion, but after Absalom's death he returns to the city to rule Israel. Because David shed much blood[2], God denies David the opportunity to build the temple. Before his peaceful death, he chooses his son Solomon as successor. He is honored in the prophetic literature as an ideal king and the forefather of a future Messiah, and many psalms are ascribed to him. Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David
