=== Not the same as Ordoño III ===
In spite of their similarities, this man and Ordoño III are distinct people. Upon the death of Ordoño III, he was succeeded by his brother Sancho, but the nobility rebelled against him and replaced him with his cousin Ordoño Alfonso, son of king Alfonso IV, who thus became Ordoño IV. This prince married Urraca Fernandez, the widow of his namesake cousin. As such, Ordoño III and Ordoño IV were distinct kings of Leon who sequentially married the same woman, not just a numbering mistake for the same king. Ordoño IV would be deposed by his predecessor, Sancho, who with the help of Pamplona and Cordoba was able to retake the crown. Ordono IV fled to Cordoba, where he died not long after, and Urraca married a third time to Sancho Garces II of Pamplona.
