  Humphrey Stokes in 1520 as a young man of Yardley he joined the GGuild of Knowle Co Warwick whose members included several members of the Holyokes of Tanworth he married 1525 ANNE------ who was burried at Yardley 5 May 1559 either HGumphrey or his wife Anne had a sister named Marjorie Hopkis who deeded land to their son Edward Stokes his will probated 26 Jun 1551 naming wife Anne,son Richard and a minor son and servant Anne Dicher The inventory taken 24 Apr 1551 by overseers John Barne,John Patton & Humphrey Jurden amounted to 77 lbs excluding all real estate Anne in her will dated 3 May 1559 asked to be burried at Yardley Church Yard near her husband
