Ranulphus De Praers, born 1038, was Lord of the vil of Stoke, near Liverpool, England and was one of the earliest ancestors of record associated with the name of Stokes and it is possible to trace his line back to Geoffrey & Thorold in Normandy who lived 100 years ealier. He probably came from around Bath where his father-in-law was Lord of Weston and Stokes. He may have accompanied William the conqueror to England. He had several brothers & sisters.
