  Mary was a daughter of Edmund FitzAlan aka Arundel, 9th or 2nd Earl of Arundel, and Alice Warenne.[1][2][3][4]
  
  The evidence is as follows:
  
  1. Papal Petition of 1364: Mary la Straunge, lady of Corsham, widow, and sister of the earl of Arundell. For plenary remission at the hour of death.[5] [Mary FitzAlan married John le Strange, 4th Lord Strange. The earl of Arundel at this time was Richard FitzAlan, son of Edmund and Alice]
  
  2. An "ordinance and device" registered with the will of Richard, Earl of Arundel, referred to his sister Mary Lestrange.[6]
  Deed C. 3059. Agreement between the attorneys of Richard, earl of Arundel and Surrey, appointed to deliver dower to Isabel, late the wife of John Lestrange of Blakemere, the earl's nephew (c 1376).[1][7] [John le Strange, the son of John le Strange, 4th Lord Strange, and Mary FitzAlan, had married Isabel de Beauchamp][8]
  
  3. Her year of birth and place of birth are unknown. Given that (a) her father Edmund died in 1326[9]; and (b) her son John le Strange was born c 1353[10] and her daughter Ankaret le Strange was born c 1361[11], then her birth may have been at the latter end of her father's life, perhaps c 1320-1327.
