He was aged 40 and more at his father's death. On 6 June 1332 the King took his homage, and he had livery of his father's lands. He was summoned to accompany the King to Ireland with as great a force as he could muster, 28 January 1331/2, and (the expedition having been postponed) 12 July 1332. SALOP. Proof of age of the said Joan, 5 June, 11 Edward II [1318]. (defaced.)
William Aleyn (?) of Staunton, aged 52, says that the said Joan was born at Wotton and baptized in the church of St. Mary, Onebury, and was 14 years of age on 9 August last; and this he knows because he had a daughter, Sibyl, born on the same day.

William son of Hugh, aged 70, says the like, and knows it because John Scot came and told him of the birth, and he gave him a sparrow-hawk for the news.
Thomas de Overton, aged 42, says the like, and knows it because he has a brother, Richard, who was born at Overton in the same week.
William de Sibeton, aged 44, says the like, and knows it because John de Sibeton, his brother, granted 1/2 virgate of land to Adam de Sibeton for 14 years at the feast of the Assumption following in the same year, and now it has come to his own hands as heir of the said John.

Robert de Staunton, clerk, aged 41, says the like, and knows it because at the feast of St. Michael following in the same year, he had a daughter, Alice, born.
Walter de Aventre, aged 53, says the like, and knows it because Margaret de Mortimar (?) stayed at Staunton Lascy in the same year from the feast of St. Michael, with her household (familia), until the feast of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist following.
Roger Church (?) aged 46, says the like, and knows it because Nicholas his father died in the same year at the feast of All Saints.
Roger … . hale, aged 60, says the like, and knows it because at Christmas (?) in the same year he married Sibyl his wife, who still lives.
William de Aventre, aged 40, says the like, and knows it because he was then servant of Agnes de Lodelowe, and made a dovecote at Eweldon for her use.
Walter Tope (?), aged 48, says the like, and knows it because he had 1/2 virgate of land from John de Saberton, for 12 years, and on the same day ……when the said Joan was born.
The escheator warned Isabella, queen of England, the king’s consort, but no one came.
Partition of two parts of the said lands into four parts, viz.—between Joan whom Thomas de Furnivall, the younger, has married, Elizabeth, and Margery, daughters of the said Theobald by his first wife, and——his daughter by Elizabeth, late the wife of John de Burgo, and sister of Gilbert de Clare, late earl of Gloucester and Hertford, his second wife, made at the suit of the said Thomas and Joan after the proof of age of the said Joan, viz.—
