== Biography ==
Isabel was the daughter of Sir John fitz Geoffrey of Shere, Surrey, and his wife Isabel, daughter of Hugh le Bigod, the Magna Carta Surety.
On some date after 19 Nov 1242, she married Robert de Vipont of Appleby etc , probably as a young child. He was born about 1234 and was theson and heir of John de Vipont of Appleby etc, hereditary Sheriff of Westmorland.
When they were old enough, Isabel and Robert had 2 children, both girls: Isabel, wife of Sir Robert de Vipont, and Idoine, wife of Roger de Leyburn and Sir John de Cromwell. The name Idoine evidently came fromthe Busli family, their ancestors.
{{citation needed}} for the details of Isabel's death.[Find a Grave memorial #[http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=84044379 84044379] has death as Apr. 16, 1301, Cumbria, England with textstating "Isabel FitzJohn Vipoint died in Shap, Cumbria, England and is buried at Shap Abbey." However, 20 May 1274 is the death date given by Medieval Lands ([[#MedLands]]) for sister Aveline, which The Peerage says is the same personbut is listed separately by Medieval Lands.][this profile's datafield has "April 16, 1259" as death date. That date was in a merged profile, possibly one citing LDS AFN 91SH-ZW (see [http://www.wikitree.com/index.php?title=Fitzgeoffrey-8&diff=next&oldid=14762476 this change page]). The date did not have a before or after attached to it, but it may be tied to an ipm for her father, whose profile has November23, 1258 as death date (from both his [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Fitzgeoffrey Wikipedia article] and entry in Marlyn Lewis's database ([http://our-royal-titled-noble-and-commoner-ancestors.com/p124.htm#i3714 Sir John FitzGeoffrey], but date without citation); just 1258 in [[#MedLands]]).][1264 according to her father's [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Fitzgeoffrey Wikipedia article]]
Isabel's husband Robert died testate in 1264, their daughters being co-heiresses. Their wardships were bought by Sir Roger de Clifford and Sir Roger de Leybourne, who of course soon became their fathers-in-law and set about partitioning their estate.
Daughter Idoine had no children, but she lived until after 1330, so the Cliffords, as heirs of the other co-heiress Isabel, had to wait thatlong before eventually coming into the whole Vipont estate. In the meantime, they made themselves sole masters of Appleby by exchanging Staveley for Idoine's half-share.
