John de Cobham, 2nd Baron Cobham (died 1355) was an English nobleman.[1] He was the second baron of the family of Cobhams of Cobham. [1].
He was the eldest son and heir of Henry de Cobham, 1st Baron Cobham.
In 1320 he became Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports and constable of Dover Castle, succeeding his father in both positions. In 1334 he was appointed, along with his father, constable of Rochester Castle. The following year he was made Admiral for the region west of the Thames. After 1350, he served in Parliament for districts in Kent. He died in 1355.
He married Joan of Beauchamp, daughter of John Lord Beauchamp; after her death, he married one Agnes Stone of Dartford.

Son and heir of Henry de Cobham, 1st Lord Cobham and Maud, daughter of Eudes de Morville.
Husband of Joan de Beauchamp, daughter of Sir John de Beauchamp and Joan, father of Sir John and Joan, who married Philip le Despenser.
Secondly, he married Agnes Stone, daughter of Richard of Dartford, Kent.
John became to Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports and the Constable of Dover Castle in 1320, replacing his father in both positions. John was knighted before 1327. He and his father were appointed Constable of Rochester Castle in 1334, then John became Admiral for West of Thames in 1335. Summoned to Parliament in 1350 as Johanni de Cobham for the regions of Kent, and died in 25 Feb 1355.
Birthdate is approximate.
Sir Cobham is said to be buried at Greyfriars, London, making this a cenotaph, but a final determination is yet to be made.

A manuscript which narrates the descents of the founders of Lanthony Abbey names (in order) “Hugo et Margareta de Courtenay, Elizabeth, Thomas, Edwardus, Johannes, Alianore, Caterina, Guenevera, Willielmus, Humfredus, Johannes et Isabella” as the children of “domino Hugoni de Cortney…comitem de Devonschire” and his wife Margaret[1231]. The Fundationis et Fundatorum Historia of Forde Abbey names ”Hugonem…quartum…Thomam, Edwardum, Johannem, Margaretam, Elizabetham, Catherinam” as the children of “Hugonem tertium” and his wife[1232]. The will of "Margaret de Courtney Countess of Devon", dated 28 Jan 1391, bequeathed property to “Margaret the daughter of my son Philip...William my son Archbishop of Canterbury...my daughter Cobham...my daughter Lutterell...my daughter Engaine...my son the Earl of Devon...my son Philip...my daughter Lady Ann Courtney...my son Peter...Joan my daughter...”[1233]. John & his wife had one child:

(b) THOMAS de Cobham (-after 13 Jan 1367, bur Cobham St Mary Magdalen). The will of "Thomas de Cobham", dated 13 Jan 1367, chose burial “in the parish church of St Mary Magdalen at Cobham”, bequeathed property to “my brother John de Cobham Knt Lord Cobham...my brother Reginald de Cobham parson of Coulinge...Julian my wife”[1234]. m JULIANA, daughter of --- (-after 13 Jan 1367).
