LIVING: 1318, The Cottons appear to have been anciently the Foresters of Northwood, etc.; for on the Roll of Guild Merchant of Shrewsbury, 12 Edward II (1318), Alan son of Alan Cotton, appears and he is decribed as "Alanfil Alan le Forester of Wemme".
