LIVING: 1318, The Cottons appear to have been anciently the Foresters of Northwood, etc.; for on the Roll of Guild Merchant of Shrewsbury, 12 Edward II (1318), Alan son of Alan Cotton, appears and he is decribed as "Alanfil Alan le Forester of Wemme". Married Matilda Action (dau of Roger Acton).
