Sir Walter de Faucomberge, 1st Lord (Baron) Faucomberge, s o created by writ of summons to Parliament 24 June 1295, o f Rise and Withernwick; accompanied Simon de Montfort, noti onal 6th Earl of Leicester of the equally notional 1107{? } creation when latter was Henry III's Vicegerent in Gascon y 1254, later rebelled with Simon and thereby forfeited hi s estates, though they were restored to him 1268; married b y Nov 1242(?) Sir Walter Fauconberg was on the King's service in Gascony with the Earl of Leicester in April, 1254. Having forfeited his estates in that Earl's rebellion, they were given to Robert de Brus of Annandale, and he had to redeem them in 1268 for œ250. He was summoned for military service from Jan. 17, 1257 (42nd of Henry III) to Nov. 7, 1302 (30th of Edward I); to Military Councils 1287 to 1297. He attended the King at Shrewsbury and wherever he went from 1283-1294. He was summoned to Parliament 1295-1302 by writs directed to Walter Fau-cum-cun-com-con-berg, whereby he is held to have become Lord Faucomberge. As Walterus dominus de Faucomberge he took part in the Barons' letter to the Pope Feb. 1300/1. He married Agnes de Brus and they had seven sons and four daughters. Walter was Governor of Plimpton Castle, County Devon, in 1224. He was summoned to Parliament from 23rd of Edward I, 1295, to his death, 32nd of Edward I.
