Biography
Isabel de Berkeley was the daughter of Lord Maurice de Creoun, a great Baron of Lincolnshire and his wife Isabel de Valence, a sister of William de Valence, Earl of Pembroke. Isabel and William de Valence were blood (half) brother and sister of Henry III, according to Burke's "Peerage," full citation needed but the English "Dictionary of National Biography," Vol. 2 full citation needed says: Isabel was the daughter of Richard Fitzroy (illegitimate son of King John) . On August 10, 1264, the King, out of compassion for the poverty of his niece, Isabel, wife of Maurice de Berkeley, granted her certain manors. Buried at St. Augustine in Bristol.
Isabel de Chilham was born c.1223 at Chilham Castle, Chilham, Kent, England. Her parents were Richard FitzRoy and Rohese Dover.
She married Maurice de Berkeley before 12 July 1247.

Isabel FitzRoy was the daughter of Richard Fitzroy, Baron of Chilham and Rose de Douvres .1 She married Sir Maurice de Berkeley, son of Thomas de Berkeley and Joan de Somery , before 12 July 1247.1 She died on 7 July 1276.1 She was also reported to have died on 7 July 1277.1 She was buried at St. Augustine's, Bristol, Gloucestershire, England .1
From before 12 July 1247, her married name became de Berkeley.1 On 10 August 1254 the King granted her certain Manors.1

Daughter of Richard FitzRoy, Baron of Chilham (also known as de Warenne and de Chilham), the illegitimate son of King John Lackland, and Rose de Dover, daughter of Fulbert de Dover. She married Sir Maurice de Berkeley "The Resolute", son of Thomas de Berkeley, Baron Berkeley, and Joan de Somery, daughter of Sir Ralph. They were married about 12 July 1247, and had four sons and two daughters:
Thomas de Berkeley married Joan de Ferrers;
John de Berkeley;
James de Berkeley, Bishop of Exeter;
Isabel de Berkeley;
Margaret Maud de Berkeley;
Maurice de Berkeley married Eva la Zouche.
In 1264, King Henry III granted Isabel the manors of Harrietsham and Trottiscliffe, Lent, out of compassion for her poverty.
