  Roger de Mowbray is said to have bestowed the lands of Baddesley upon Walter de Bisege at some time between 1100 and 1135.
  
  The Mowbrays remained the overlords of Baddesley Clinton until early in the reign of Henry IV, though subsequently Baddesley was held from the Clinton family. It remained in the Bisege family for four generations, descending from Walter to his son Ralph and from him to his son James.

  False Marriage
  Robert Page shows Mazera de Bisege married in 1230 to both Ralph Bracebridge (born 1208) and to Thomas de Clinton (born 1206). Page further shows that Mazera’s child of the Clinton marriage, Thomas de Clinton (1231-1284) married Mazera’s child of the second marriage, Maud Bracebridge, born Kingsbury, Warwickshire in 1234 and died Maxlock Castle, Warwickshire in 1276, and became the parents of Anne DeClinton, born 1260 in Warwickshire and died 1283 in Wolvey, Warwickshire. Such a marriage of half-siblings born of the same mother is highly unlikely.
