She was born at Pembroke Castle 9 October 1200. They had three sons, Richard, Knt. [Earl of Gloucester and Hertford], William, Knt., and Gilbert, and three daughters, Amice, Agnes, and Isabel. == Biography ==Amice de Clare was born 27 May 1220,[Wikipedia has born circa 1210but this is impossible given her mother was born 9 October 1200]probably the eldest child of [[Clare-673|Gilbert de Clare]], Earl of Hertford and Earl of Gloucester, and his wife, [[Marshal-124|Isabel Marshal.]]
She was betrothed on 29 October 1226 while still a child to Baldwin deReviers (Redvers), Earl of Devon, and perhaps married that year.[Cawley; Cokayne, p. 319]
They had three children:#Baldwin de Redvers, born 1 January 1235/36, succeeded his father as Earl of Devon;[Cokayne, p. 319]#Isabel de Redvers, born in July 1237, Countess of Aumale and Devon;[Cokayne, p. 322]#Margaret de Redvers, born about 1240, a nun in Laycock Abbey.[Cokayne, p. 319, note (f)]
Her husband died 15 February 1244/45 and her dower was assigned on 22 April 1245. The King gave his assent for her second marriage to Robert de Gynes (Guines), younger son of Arnoul II, Count of Guines on 10 January 1247/48 if she consented, but it is possible the marriage didn't ever take place, and she was definitely unmarried in April 1249.[Cokayne, p. 319, including note (e)]
She founded Abbey of Buckland in Devon, and died shortly before 21 January 1283/84.[Cawley, Cokayne, p. 319] The Priory of St Martin-des-Champs in Paris, (quoted by Cawley) notes that she died on 27 November, presumably in 1283, but this isn't confirmed by any other source.[Cawley]
