In late April 1274, John le Sauvage acknowledged that he owed to Robert Aguillon 10 marks; to be levied, in default of payment, of his lands and chattels in co Derby and co Sussex.
An Inquisition post mortem investigating the property held by John Le Sauvage (Savage) in Derbyshire was held in 4 Edward I [1275].
On July 26 1275 at Brill, P de Wilegheby, escheator beyond Trent, was ordered to cause dower to be assigned to Hawisia, late the wife of John Sauvage, tenant in chief, as Hawisia has taken oath before the king, Edward I, not to marry without his licence. P de Wilegheby is also ordered not to permit her to be impeded concerning the administration of John's goods and chattels from making execution of his will, unless the escheator ascertains that John at his death was indebted to the King at the exchequer in divers debts.
