- Birth: 5 JAN 1215 in Addington, Kent, England at LATI: N1.3062 LONG: E0.3739 with note: I'm not sure where the date of birth has come from, but this is the source of my information. BIRTH: Reginald Tower, "The Family of Septvans," Archaeologia Cantiana 40 (1928):108. Robert was also identified as son
and heir, "aged almost 40 [sic]," in the inquisition post mortem of his father, Robert "de Sevanz alias Sevont," writ issued 3
Jan 33 Hen. III [1249], abstracted in Calendar of Inquisitions Post Mortem and other Analogous Documents, vol. 1. Henry III
(London: HMSO, 1904), 39, no. 158. Robert's age would seem to be exaggerated and chronologically unlikely by almost a decade. Year of birth is an estimate based on family chronology.

Biography
He held a third of the old barony of Aldington which had come from his father's mother.
According to Sanders, in 1213-1214 Robert appeared alone at a muster (Chancery Misc. C47/5/11).
Robert had a wife, Matilda. He gave land through charter to the Prior of the Church of St Gregory at Canterbury and to the convent of the same place. He died in 1249. At this time he held one knight’s fee at Aldington from the King, one knight’s fee at Milton from the Earl of Gloucester and half a knight’s fee at Walmeston of the Archbishop of Canterbury. He also held two knight’s fees in Essex of William de Shoford. He was buried at Lydd, survived by his wife, Matilda, and his son Robert (the fourth of the name) who was then about 40.
