=== Life Sketch ===
Uncertain Parentage
There is no firm evidence for Avice's parentage. Her parents are not named by:
Douglas Richardson
Cawley's Medlands, which says a link with the Aubigny family is mentioned in a "manuscript record of the Mowbray family (many of the details in which relating to the early generations of the family are inconsistent with other sources)" which mentions William marrying "[filiam] comitis de Arundel … Agnetem.
Cokayne's Complete Peerage describes her origins as uncertain.
The Oxford Dictionary of National Biography entry for her husband states that contemporary sources call her Avice with no indication of her family origins. Her identification as a daughter of William d'Aubigny seems to originate in Dugdale's recension of Progenies Moubraiorum.
