Robert de Sherburne is the first member of the Lancashire-Yorkshire family. He is first mentioned in 1246. Nothing is know about him except that he married Matilda, sister of Adam de Catford, son of Adam "filius Swani aliter dict. Adam De Catford," son of Swanius of Carlton Magna, or Pulton in Lanchashire. He died 45 Henry III (1260-1261), leaving a son John de Sherburne.
