=== Background information concerning Robert de Ferrers, Lord of Eggington ===
Many private records suggest that Robert de Ferrers, Lord of Eggington, was the son of William de Ferrers, 3rd Earl of Derby, but that is in error. According to Burke's Dormant, Abeyant, Forfeited and Extinct Peerages, Robert de Ferrers is the son of Walcheline de Ferrers, Lord of Eggington, and his wife Goda de Toni. Walcheline de Ferrers is the son of William de Ferrers, 3rd Earl of Derby, and his wife Margaret Peverell, who, in some records, is listed as the wife of William de Ferrers, 5th Earl of Derby, which is also in error (See copy of the Burke's pedigree in the Memories section). Thus, Robert de Ferrers, Lord of Eggington, is the grandson of William de Ferrers, 3rd Earl of Derby and not his son. William de Ferrers, 3rd Earl of Derby, is the father of Robert de Ferrers, 4th Earl of Derby, and Walcheline de Ferrers, Lord of Eggington. Robert de Ferrers, 4th Earl of Derby, is the father of William de Ferrers, 5th Earl of Derby. Many of the children of these individuals have been attached to the wrong set of parents in many private records.

Nothing seems to support conflating this Robert de Ferrers with the Robert fitz Walkelin in the following discussion. Daughter, Margery, should likely be made the daughter of this [[Fitzrobert-105|Robert]], whois the son of Robert, grandson of Walchelin, husband of Margaret de Grendon, father of Ermentrude Stafford, son-in law of Ermentrude de Grendon, who gifted him lands in Egginton, which Margery inherited.
A discussion in August 2001 on soc.genealogy.medieval indicates the following:''ROBERT FITZ WALKELIN. In a plea roll of 22 Edward I (1293/4) he is called Robert fitz Walkeline and his daughter was named Margaret, wifeof John de Chandos. Per Paget (OGHBE: 205), (who calls him the son of William de Ferrers, 3rd Earl of Derby): He died 1225. Fought in Ireland 1210 and in Poitou 1214. He adhered to King John against the rebel Barons for which he was suitably rewarded. He had no issue byhis wife Joan. (DUG, 1: 258 however names two daughters as his coheiresses, both by his wife Joan.)
Married- JOAN de BOCLAND.1. Ermentruda fitz Walkelin. Married- William de Stafford. (Not perDUG- Robert Talbot, of Gainsborough, Lincolnshire.) This would be, according to Staffordshire Record Society, Series 3, vol. 1917, p. 9- Sir William de Stafford, born c1225, died 1258. Ermentrude was his first wife and Auda, eldest sister and coheiress of Warin de Vernon, of Sandon, was his 2nd.
2. Margaret fitz Walkelin. ''
(Ref: Paget, Gerald. An Official Genealogical and Heraldic Baronage of England. 3 vols. About 1957.
This states that Robert is the son of Walkelin and NOT the son of William as some have shown.
