  Robert de Hastings, son of William fitz Robert of Hastings and Helewis de Guerres; succeed his father as lord of Little Easton, Essex, c. 1162. He died c 1190 leaving a daughter and heiress Alice by his wife Matilda, sister of Hugh de Flamville. Alice married first Ralph of Cornhill (d.s.p. 1199) and secondly, Godfrey, brother of the duke of Louvain, by whom she had issue Matthew de Louvain, who succeeded in 1226. [Domesday Descendants p506]

  Robert de Hastings married after 1169 Maud, daughter of Roger de Flamville (d 1169) and sister and co-heiress of Hugh de Flamville II (Mon. Ang. VI. pp972, 1190, Rot de Oblatis, p. 537; cf. Farrer's Early Yorks. Chtrs. I, 420, II, 89-95). In the Pipe Roll of 1190 Hugh de Flamville owed £10 to have the custody of his sister, the widow of Robert de Aiston (i.e. Robert de Hastings). Dr Round's statement that Robert de Hastings married the daughter and heiress of William fitz Robert de Windsor appears to be in error. [NEHGR CI:293]

An Inspeximus dated 2 Mar 1270 quotes the charter under which Henry I King of England granted the lands of “Robertus filius Walteri de Wyndesora...patris sui” to “Willelmo filio predicti Roberti” (the charter referred to above), the charter under which King Henry II reconfirmed the grant, the charter of King Richard I which confirmed to “Henrico de Cornhell, Aliciam filiam et heredem Roberti de Hasting...uxorem [suam]”, and “confirmation of the same in favour of Matthew de Loveyne cousin and heir of the said William, Henry and Alice and his heirs”[1627]. m MATILDA de Flamville, daughter of ROGER de Flamville & his wife Iveta de Arches (-after 1214). "Hugo de Flamvill" confirmed donations to Old Malton "antequam sororem meam Matildem Flamvill Roberto de Hastinges in matrimonium dederam" by undated charter[1628]. The 1194/95 Pipe Roll records "Hugo Flammanuilla" owing "x li. pro habenda custodia sororis sue cum terra sua que fuit uxor Roberti de Aistan" in Norfolk & Suffolk[1629]. "Alanus de Flamville" paid a fine relating to a claim "inter Elyam patrem predicti Alani cujus heres ipse est" and "Hug de Flamvill cujus heredes Matill de Flamville et Agn soror eius sunt", dated 1214[1630].
