  === Questions about Adelisa de Vernon's parentage ===
  Several private records suggest that Adelisa de Vernon, reported to be the the wife of William de Briwere, is the daughter of Richard de Vernon (also called Reviers and Redvers) and Adelise de Peverel. However, no historical records appear to exist to confirm that conjecture. If her reported date of birth is correct, she is of the right age to be a daughter of Richard de Vernon, but several historical records provide the names of the children of Richard de Vernon and Adelise de Peverel and no daughter named Adelisa exists therein [See documents in the Memories section of Richard de Vernon]. Richard de Vernon's documented children are Baldwin de Reviers, William de Vernon, Robert, Hugh and a daughter Hawise. Another record (a pedigree) reports an additional son named Warin, who may, in fact, be the son William. It appears that the supposition that Adelisa de Vernon is the daughter of Richard de Vernon may be based on the fact that Richard's wife is named Adelise and the assumption is that the daughter is named after the mother. That may be correct, but it is not documented. It may also be a possibility that Adelisa de Vernon is an illegitimate child of Richard de Vernon, and for that reason is ignored in the historical documents.
  
  Without any documented proof as to the parentage of Adelisa de Vernon, it seems prudent to leave her as a child of Richard de Vernon until such time as documented evidence comes to light to prove otherwise.
