Baldwin, was the son of Stephen, Baron of Boulers, in Flanders. He was a member of the First Crusade. Baldwin married Sibyl de Falaise daughter of Henry I and Isabella Corbet. After Sibyl's death, Baldwin married Margaret de Limesi [Lymeseye]. Keats-Rohan's entry:
de Bullers, Baldwin
Fleming from Boelare, near Alost (aalst), probably a brother of Stephen IV de Boelare. He first occurs in the early twelfth century, when he was given some of the land in Shropshire forfeited by the Montgomerys in 1102; these holdings then became the honour of Montgomery, of which it included the castle during the twelfth century. He was also given in marriage to Sibil de Falaise, younger daughter of William de Falaise and Geva de Burcy, and a kinswoman (nepta) of Henry; he married secondly Margery de Limesi. He left issue a son Stephen, father of Robert (d.s.p 1203) and Baldwin II de Bullers (whose widow Wenteliana occurs in 1242 in Wiltshire, in Fees, 738), and two daughters, Mathilda, wife of Richard fitz Urse, and Hilaria; he was probably also father of Beatrice de Bullers, who held 14 fees of Roger de Clare in 1166 as widow of Baldwin fitz Geoffrey. The Malric de Bulliers who was pardoned 104s. Danegeld in Shropshire in 1161-62 was possibly his son and first heir.
«b»MORE INFORMATION«/b»
Baldwin de Boulers came to England in 1105 when he was granted the Lordship of Montgomery, Powys in marriage with Sybil de Falaise. Sybil was referred to as the niece of Henry I of England but is commonly believed, probably incorrectly, to be one of his illegitimate children.
Baldwin was of a Flemish family from Boelare and his father was Stephen, Baron de Boelare. Boelare is now known as NederBoelare and is part of the town of Geraardsbergen, East Flanders, Belgium.
The de Boulers were based at Hen Domen, the original site for Montgomery Castle and it is from Baldwin that Montgomery gets its Welsh name, Trefaldwyn "The Town of Baldwin".
The de Boulers continued as a prominent Shropshire family, becoming the Bowdlers.

=== Shrewsbury Abbey Charter ===
In 1121, during the incumbency of Godfrey as Abbot of Shrewsbury, Baldwin de Bollers acted as a witnessing signatory to Henry I's charter securing and guaranteeing the Abbey's possessions.
=== Arrival in England 1105 ===
Baldwin appears to have settled in England from around 1105. It was about this time that he married his first wife, Sybil de Falaise and received, as a wedding gift from Henry I, the Lordship of Montgomery.

Henry I gave the honour of Montgomery to Baldwin de Boulers on his marriage to Sibyl de Falaise. Sibyl was some kind of relation, probably cousin, of Henry I, but not niece as is interpreted from the latin, (this was mentioned last year and is discussed by Doug Richardson in the archives).
The IPM of Vitalis Engayne in 1248 (CIPM 1: 166) says for Suffolk "Badmundefeld, a moiety of the manor (extent given) held of the honour on Mungumeri without service, because King Henry, the king's great-great grandfather, gave the manor in free marriage to Baldwin de Bulers, ancestor of the said Vitalis, with Sibyl de Falaise his niece."
The division is reiterated in the IPM of William de Cantilupo in 1253 (CIPM 1 : 318) Suffolk. "Badmundefield manor (extent given). King Henry I gave the manor to Baldwin de Boulers in free marriage with Sibyl de Faleisse, wherefore no service has ever been done to the king for the same. "
The gift in free marriage is specifically mentioned because no services were due to the king as a condition of tenure..
Presumably under customary inheritance, Vitalis Engayne and Roger Gernet, being heirs of the full blood as descendants of Sibyl, took precedence over issue of Baldwin de Bouler's second marriage. Evidently Roger Gernet sold his moiety to William de Cantilupe who became his representative. It is quite possible that William de Cantilupe had an interest, either by marriage or descent, as was often the case when an inheritance was sold to another party. The pedigrees given in the plea rolls would only pertain to the principals - other siblings would not enter into it.

Author: Baldwin de Boulers His surname is sometimes rendered Bollers, Bullers, Bulers, or Boullers. Baldwin was a younger son of Stephen, Baron of Boulers [Boelare], in Flanders, and a member of the First Crusade. The barony of Boelare was comprised of 16 villages southwest of Brussels. Alternately his father was Hamon De Aubigny, Lord Belers, of Derbyshire, England. Hamon's father was Nele de Aubigny, who was born in Aubigny, Normandy. Robert and Sampson Belers De Aubigney, born between 1146 and 1148 in Ketelby Belers were Baldwin's brothers. In this scenario the Boulers in the name appears to refer to a manor they held, i.e. "de" Ketelby Bellars. Baldwin held Montgomery, a motte and bailey castle, on the marches of Wales. This castle had originally been built by Earl Roger de Montgomery, Earl of Shrewsbury, and companion of the Conqueror. Upon the rebellion of his son, in favor of Duke Robert of Normandy, the castle was confiscated by Henry I and later granted it to Baldwin in free marriage
