  JOHN DE TREGOZ, possibly son and heir [of Geoffrey Tregoz]. In 1158 he and his brother Philip witnessed a charter of the Earl of Arundel; and in 1164 he made an agreement with the abbot of Fécamp about the wood of Dureshurst, &c., Sussex. In 1168 he and Philip owed 46s. 8d. for scutage on 3½ fees, said by them to be an over-charge made by the Earl of Arundel. John was fined for disseisin in Surrey in 1180; and in 1194 he essoined himself at Goring de malo lecti.
  
  He married Amice, widow of Philip DE LEIBURN, of Leybourne, Kent, daughter and coheir of Ralph FITZGEROLD. He died before 8 April 1195. [Complete Peerage XII/2:23, (transcribed by Dave Utzinger)]

  [youngest son of William] John Tregoze, who was seated in Sussex 14th Hen. II. ,(1167), and marrying, had issue, apparently, two sons; Henry, evidently his heir; and Thomas Tregoze, who removed into the adjoining county of Kent; and was living there Ist John (1199).
