Note: 4, William de Clayton, who married Elizabeth Farrington, of a good stock and lineage, by whom he had three sons, Richard, Thomas, and Robert, and two daughters, Margaret and Elizabeth : he died in 1 152, and was buried at Ley- land. Richard, the eldest son, became a priest, and indeed he was a man of God, given to prayer and much alms : he died at Poictou. Thomas, the second son, died without issue.
