Roese theref ore succeeded her brother, not her father or grandfather, a nd the inference to be drawn is that Richard the younger an d Roese were Geoffrey's children by a first wife, and Geoff rey the younger his son by a second wife. The available ev idence does not, however, exclude the possibility that th e younger Geoffrey was illegitimate.
