=== Life Sketch ===
Charles Cawley states that the name of Tewdwr's wife is unknown,[1] presumably because there is no mention of her name in the Brut Y Tywysogion.[2] As of yet, no other sources have been found which give a name to Tewdwr's wife.
Children of Tewdwr Mawr ap Cadell and unknown spouse:
Rhys ap Tewdwr; m. Gwladus ferch Rhiwallon ap Cynfyn;[1] d. 1093[3]
Rhydderch ap Tewdwr; m. Hunydd ferch Bleddyn ap Cynfyn (King of Gwynedd)[4][1][5][6]
Elen ferch Tewdwr, m. Bleddyn ap Maernyrch[7]
Gwyn ap Tewdwr, (issue)[7]
Nest ferch Tewdwr (abt.1048-1065), m. Sutric ab Aflœd (Sibtric son of Olaf)[7]
Maredudd ap Tewdwr[7]
Estimated Date of Birth: estimate is based on her marriage to a man born c.1000, although there is also no source given for his birthdate (it is merely a conjecture of author Carl Boyer and not supported by any evidence)[7] so this is a stretch.
No Evidence of What Her Name May Have Been: This profile is the result of several merges and the subject has been variously named as Gwenllian ferch Gruffyd, Gwenllian verch Gwyn, and Gwenllian ferch Gwyn ap Rhytherch. Information from merged profiles included a selection of birth/death dates and places.
Gwenllian [verch Gwyn] was born about 1020 in Llandilo, Carmarthenshire, Wales and died about 1109 in Powys, Montgomeryshire, Wales.[8]
She was born in Bretagne, Normandy, France in 977 or 1020 and died 1069 in Mechain, Wales.[9][10]
A profile for a different Gwenllian - daughter of Gwyn - was merged away into this one on 26 June 2022. That profile (verch Gwyn-6) was also attached as wife of Tewdr Mawr, married in 1040 (but born in 1020, not 1000). Looking at the change history for verch Gwyn-6, it appears that the Gwenllian created by Barbara White was born and died in Wales (1020-1109, Carmarthenshire -> Montgomeryshire). That profile had been merged with a Gwenllian born 997 (or 1020) in Bretagne, Normandy, France who died in 1069 in Mechain, Wales.The latter profile had Tewdwr husband and children.[11] Both were called "verch Gwyn". A new profile for the daughter of Gwyn ap Rhydderch was created: see Gwenllian ferch Gwyn (abt.1010-).
Because this profile is intended to represent the wife of Tewdwr ap Cadell and no reliable source has been found to indicate what her name may have been or who her parents were, Gruffydd of Gwynedd has been detached as her father and her name and LNAB have been changed to Unknown. Son Ryall ap Comyn has been removed: because it is an unsourced profile and appears to belong in the Comyn family line. Stevens-17832 21:16, 27 June 2022 (UTC)
