=== Life Sketch ===
GUILLAUME I Crispin (-Bec 8 Jan 1074, bur Bec abbey).
The De nobili genere Crispinorum names "Gislebertum, [Willelmum]…et Robertum" as the three sons of "Gislebertus…Crispini cognomen" and his wife, adding that Guillaume II Duke of Normandy placed him "in castro Melfia" to defend against French incursions and granted him "Vilcassini vicecomitatum…in Lexoviensi pago". Keeper of the castle of Neaufles. "…Gisleberti Crispini, fratris eius Guillelmi…" witnessed the charter dated to [1047 or before] under which Guillaume II Duke of Normandy confirmed the donation by "Adelelmi…Beatricis uxor eius…Rotberti filius eius" to the abbey of Mont-Saint-Michel. The Chronique de Normandie, based on le Roman de Rou, names "Guillaume Crespin" among those who took part in the conquest of England in 1066. The necrology of Beaumont-le-Roger records the death "VI Id Jan" of "Will. Crispinus monachus nostræ congregationis", and the year ascertained from the Nomina Monachorum. “Gosselinus Crispinus...cum Guillelmo filio meo adhuc parvo” confirmed donations to Bec, including the donation of “ecclesias de Livarrot et de Blangeyo” made by “Guillelmi Crispini”, of land “in Blangeyo” by “Evæ uxoris ipsius”, by charter dated 1155.
m EVA, daughter of --- (-23 Jan [1099/1100], bur Bec abbey). The De nobili genere Crispinorum records that "Willelmus Crispinus" married "Evam…de gente Francorum". Her possible affiliation as Eva, daughter of Amaury [III] Seigneur de Montfort l’Amaury & his wife Bertrade --- is explained in The Complete Peerage. The Chronicon Beccensis Abbatiæ records that "tempore S. Anselmi abbatis Becci tres matronæ nobiles…Basilia uxor Hugonis de Gornaco, et Amfrida neptis ipsius Basiliæ, et Eva uxor Guillelmi Crispini" entered Bec and lived at the abbey, adding that they died on three consecutive Sundays "Amfrida Basiliæ neptis...minor...ætate, virgo…IV Non Jan, qua sepulta…Basilia domina eius…XVII Kal Feb…tertia Eva…X Kal Feb...post mortem...viri sui Guillermi Crispini...Beccique usque ad finem vitæ...perseuerauit". Gurney dates the passage to [1099/1100].
Guillaume [I] & his wife had children:
i) GUILLAUME II Crispin (-after 1112)
ii) GILBERT Crispin ([1045/55]-6 Dec 1117).

____________
Biography
Guillaume, brother to Gilbert Crispin, witnessed a charter dated about 1047.
He was Keeper of the castle of Neaufles.
The History of the Crispin family (De nobili genere Crispinorum ), said to be written by Miles Crispin in the early 1100's, tells us that the three sons of "Gilbert, surnamed Crispin" and his wife were "Gilbert jr, William and Robert".
"Gislebert, William...and Robert" as the three sons of "Gislebertus... Crispini cognomen" and his wife.
The De nobili genere Crispinorum records that "Willelmus Crispinus" married "Evam…de gente Francorum" ... The suggestion that this Eva was the dau. of Amaury III, Sire de Montfort l'Amaury & his wife Bertrade is explained in The Complete Peerage.
The Chronique de Normandie, based on le Roman de Rou, names "Guillaume Crespin" among those who took part in the conquest of England in 1066.
Guillaume died in 1074 and is buried at Bec abbey, Place de l'Abbé Herluin, Le Bec-Hellouin, France.

Note: GUILLAUME [de Hainaut], son of --- . Orderic Vitalis names "Guillelmi Hanoensis" as father of "Amalrici senioris de Monte-Forti", when recording a visit by Henri I King of France to Fécamp on the advice of Amaury, dated to 1032. The accuracy of the information is uncertain, although presumably it cannot be dismissed entirely. Dion suggests that he was a cousin of Reginar [IV] Comte de Hainaut. No other trace of such a person has yet been found. m --- dame de Nogent, dau. of ---. Her marriage is confirmed by an apparently incomplete fragmentary passage of the mid-12th century continuation of the Historia of Monk Aimon which records that, during the reign of Robert II King of France, [name omitted] fortified "Sparnonem et Montifortem" and married "de Novigento dominam". One child:
a) AMAURY [I] de Montfort (-after Apr 1052). Robert II King of France confirmed the donation of "Manasses comes" to Chartres Notre-Dame by charter dated 4 Feb 1031, signed by "…Manasses comitis, Hilduini comitis fratris eius, filorum eius Manassis et Hilduini, Burcardo de Montemorenciaco, Evrardi filii Hilduini de Britoglio, Amalrici de Monteforti, Milonis de Caprosa…". He began the building of the castle of Montfort l'Amaury, which was finished by his son. Orderic Vitalis records that Henri I King of France visited Fécamp, dated to 1032, on the advice of "Amalrici senioris de Monte-Forti, filii Guillelmi Hanoensis". "Ivo de Curba villa" dedicated "ecclesiæ Sanctorum Martyrum Gervasii et Protasii Cheonis" by charter dated to 1048/61, witnessed by “...Amalricus de Sparnoto, Simon et Mainerius filii eius...”. "Amalricus miles" founded the priory of Saint-Thomas d’Epernon, with the consent of "conjugis mee…Bertredis…et filiorum meorum…Simonis…atque Mainerii", by charter dated [11 Apr 1052/Jul 1053]. m BERTRADE, dau. of --- (-after Apr 1052). - SEIGNEURS d’EPERNON.
iii) EVA (-23 Jan 1099, bur Bec abbey). Her possible affiliation is explained in the Complete Peerage[453]. The Chronicon Beccensis Abbatiæ records that "tempore S.
