  Richard Talbot, born probably about 1050, may have been son of a William Talebot whose name appears in a charter in 1057 by Robert, Comte d'Eu. He witnessed a grant made by Walter Giffard, Earl of Buckingham, during the reign of William the Conqueror, and in Domesday Book held land of that Earl in Battlesden, co. Bedford. He married a daughter of Hugh de Gournai, by Basilia, daughter of Gerald Flaitel. [The Bulkely Genealogy p71]
