=== Battle of Hastings? ===
Interesting to note that William St. John has an added last name of Hastings, although that name doesn’t appear in the family before or after him. He was born in Normandy, France and died on October 14, 1066, in Hastings, Sussex, England. Same date as the Battle of Hastings, the one day skirmish considered to be the beginning of Norman rule in England, also referred to as the Norman Conquest. Could Hastings have been added to his name for that reason?
