  William I of Garlande, possibly born in 1055 . He is the son of Adam of Garlande and Eustache de Montlhéry, and grandson of Aubert. He died before 1095.
  
  Lord of Garlande and Livry-Gargan, of Gournay-sur-Marne, inheritance of his mother Eustache de Montlhéry, and perhaps of Chantilly.
  
  The family of Garlande, native of Brie, is of modest extraction, probably of knightly lineage. The knowledge of the family, faithful of the king, begins with Adam who exerts the confession of two domains close to Faremoutiers dependent on the abbey Saint-Jean de Lagny.
  
  The biography of Louis VI Eric Bournazel does not give more information. The fortune of the Garland family begins at the end of the reign of Philip I st Gilbert said Pagan and develops with Stephen of Garland during the reign of Louis VI.
