Foundation for Medieval Genealogy
MURIEL de Bohun . Domesday Descendants states that Savari de Beaumont married "Muriel daughter of Richard de Meri, the Norman heir of Humphrey de Bohun" but does not cite the corresponding primary source[449]. Her family origin is indicated by a charter of King Richard I dated 31 Mar 1190 confirming "Ford, Climpling, Rustinton, Presteton and Lovinto…in the county of Sussex" to "Francus de Bohun", to hold in the same way as "Savaric son of Savaric, heir of Enjulger de Bohon" had held[450]. "Savaric son of Cana and Muriel his wife" donated property to the abbey of Saint-Martin, Sees by charter dated to [1105], witnessed by "…Radulfus et Savarico filii ipsius Savarici"[451]. m SAVARY FitzCana, son of RAOUL [IV] Vicomte du Maine & his second wife Cana --- .

=== Conflict with the parentage of Muriel de Bohun ===
Several historical records disagree on who the father of Muriel de Bohun was. That she married Savaric FitzCane (FitzCana) appears to be beyond question. However, her parentage appears to be questionable. The Battle Abbey Roll and the Sussex Archaeological Collections [See documents in the Memories section] suggest her father was Engelger who had married an unnamed daughter of Richard de Mery (Meri), Seigneur de Bohun. Contrary to that supposition, The Dictionary of National Biography, Foundation for Medieval Genealogy, British History Online and a pedigree in Wikipedia [See documents in the Memories section] suggest that Muriel's father was, in fact, Richard de Mery, Seigneur de Bohun.
Thus, the disagreement centers around the question: was Richard de Mery Muriel's father or grandfather? Clearly she is closely related to Richard de Mery, but it does not appear currently possible to confirm or refute whether Richard was her father or grandfather without more accurate dates of births and deaths of both Muriel and Richard. And, in fact, Muriel and Engelger (Ingelger) may be brother and sister rather than father and daughter.
Without more accurate records, it currently seems more prudent to list Muriel as the daughter of Richard de Mery, but if additional records come to light, adding a generation between Muriel and Richard might become necessary.
