George Munford, 1858 (FHL Film # 994042, Item 5, pp.41-42): "Ralph de Limesi...was a Norman Baron, and according to some accounts, nephew to the Conqueror.... William bestowed upon him forty-one manors in England, besides the lands of his wife Christina, one of the sisters of Prince Edgar Atheling, grandson of King Edmund Ironside, who was brother to Edward the Confessor. Ralph de Limesi founded at Herford a priory of Benedictine monks, subordinate to the Abbey of St. Alban's, in the time of Abbott Paul, who died in the year 1093. In Norfolk, Ralph de Limesi held only two manors, which were valued, both in the Confessor's and in the Conqueror's time, at £6." A "Pedigree" of the descendants of Ralph (I) de Limesi appears on page 42 of this book. Also, the following information on "A Uxor Radulfi"--or "a wife of Ralph"--appears on page 548 in the book "Domesday Descendants: A Prosopography of Persons Occurring in English Documents, 1066-1166, Volume 2", by K.S.B. Keats-Rohan (and published by Boydell Press in 2002; FHL Book # 942 D3KK): "de Limesi, A Uxor Radulfi: Occurs in a charter of her husband Ralph [I] de Limesy founding the cell of Hertford. Both apparently died soon after 1093."
