Wimer Dapifer, Norman, was a Domesday tenant (1086) and steward (dapifer) of William de Warenne in Norfolk and Suffolk. He appears in a charter of 1090, and is mentioned in many later charters. In a charter for Castle Acre priory Osmund de Stuteville, husband of his great-grand-daughter Isabel, referred to him as the first in a listing of their antecessors as 'Wimar seneschal de Gressinghale'.
With Gila Wimar had at least two sons, Roger and Walter. Also two 'nepotes' Geoffrey, a chaplain, and Sewalo are mentioned in records. He died a monk of Castle Acre. He appears in charters as late as approximately 1130 according to Farrer in EYC (repeated by Keats-Rohan), and his son Roger from about 1130/1138.
