=== Some background information concerning Anceline de Montfort sur Risle and Thurstan de Bastembourg, Siegneur de Montfort sur Risle ===
There appears to be considerable confusion in many records concerning Anceline de Montfort sur Risle, and her likely brother Thurstan de Bastembourg, both as to their correct names and parentage. Anceline is alternately referred to in private records as Anceline and Adeline. Collins's Peerage of England, Vol. 4, pg. 430-431 (probably the most definitive current source) calls her Adeline [See document in the Memories section for Anceline]. The article titled Lords and Counts of Harcourt in Wikipedia names her Anceline and the article titled House of Harcourt in Wikipedia also names her Anceline [See documents in the Memories section for Anceline].
thepeerage.com/p39326.htm#i393259 reports the following: "Anceline de Montfort-sur-Risle is the daughter of Toussaint Bernard, Seigneur de Montfort (however, that is likely in error since Toussaint was only born about 10 years before Anceline). She married Turquetil de Pont-Audemer, Sire de Tourville, Seigneur de Turqueville et de Turqueraye, son of Torfulus 'le Riche' de Pont-Audemer, Seigneur de Pont-Ademar, Sire d'Harcourt and Eremburge de Bastembourg, Dame de Bricquebec".
The wife of Turchetil, Seigneur de Tourville, in the Foundation for Medieval Genealogy, is not named, but mention is made that Turchetil married a sister of Gunnora de Crepon, wife of Richard I, Duke of Normandy. That also appears to be in error since it was Turchetil's older brother Thorold, Seigneur of Pont Andemar, who was married to Gunnora's sister Wevia (Weve or Duveline or Duceline) and not Turchetil.
As reported above, Anceline's parentage also appears to be somewhat in question. Collins's Peerage of England, referred to above, reports that Anceline (Adeline) is the sister of Toustain, Lord of Montfort sur Risle (apparently also called Thurstan de Bastembourg, Seigneur de Montfort sur Risle). thepeerage.com cited above suggests Toussaint Bernard is Anceline's father (are Toussaint, Toustain and Thurstan actually the same person?), but that is not possible from dates of birth. Many other private records report Thurstand de Bastembourg is the father of Anceline (Adeline). However, that is very unlikely. Collins's Peerage of England, in referring to Thurston de Bastembourg, reports that Thurstan had three children, two sons and a daughter. They are named (1.) William (Guillaume) Bertrand ("Willelmus Bertrannus" witnessed the charter dated 24 Apr 1089), (2.) Hugh with a beard (HUGUES [I] "cum barba" de Montfort-sur-Risle) and (3.) Gisela de Montfort sur Risle [See document in the Memores section of Thurstan]. There is no Anceline (Adeline). Hugh reportedly had a son also named Hugh who accompanied William the Conqueror to England in 1066. From the known dates of events in the lives of the reported sons (and grandsons) of Thurstan de Bastembourg, he could not have been born early enough to be the father of Anceline (Adeline), but very well could have been her brother. Many private records give his birth date as about 940-945, but someone born that early could not have had a son still living in 1089, or a grandson in 1066 for that matter. Anceline (Adeline) is reported in several private records as being born about 953-965, some 20 years after the reported birth of Thurstan de Bastembourg, but again his reported birth date is likely too early and he would have been born somewhat later, likely closer to Anceline's reported birth date. The Foundation for Medieval Genealogy does not report a birth date for Thurstan and reports no knowledge of his parentage.
Burke's Dormant, Abeyant, Forfeited and Extinct Peerages, pg. 261, provides a Harcourt family pedigree which names Turchetil (Anceline's husband), his brother Thorold, their father Torf le Rich and his father Bernard the Dane, but it does not give the names of any of their wives.
From the above information, it appears that Anceline (Adeline) Montfort sur Risle, wife of Turchetil, Seigneur de Tourville, is the sister of Thurstan de Bastembourg, Seigneur de Montfort sur Risle and their parentage is currently unknown.

=== THURSTAN DE MONTFORT (b), brother and h ===
THURSTAN DE MONTFORT (b), brother and heir. His name appear s in the account of the sheriff of Berks in 1130, He had su cceeded his brother by the spring of 1141, when the Empres s Maud at Winchester gave him a charter for a market ever y Sunday at his castle of Beaudesert, near Henley in Arden . He attested several charters of Roger, and one of William , Earls of Warwick, to the College of Warwick, his name com ing usually after those of the Earl's immediate family. H e also attested, on the Earl's side, the agreement made a t Devizes in 1153 between Henry, Duke of Normandy (afterwar ds Henry II), and Ranulph, Earl of Chester. In 1156 he owe d the King 20 marks for his land in Rutland. In 1166 he hel d under three tenants in chief of the Earl of Warwick 10 1/ 4 fees (Beaudesert, &c.), of Roger de Mowbray 3 3/4 in York s, and of Robert de Stafford 1/4 (Henley in Arden). After h is brother's death he confirmed the grant of Wing to Thorne y Abbey for the souls of himself, his wife and children, an d especially of his brother Robert. He made a gift to Guisb orough for the soul of his brother Henry (1155-70). His nam e disappears from the Pipe Roll after 1170. He married Juli ane, daughter and coheir of Geoffrey MURDAC. [Complete Pee rage IX:120-1, (transcribed by Dave Utzinger)] (b) [actually about Thurstan's elder brother Robert, but i t also applies to Thurstan] The ancestry of this family can not be given any certainty. The only place in Normandy name d Montfort is Montfort-sur-Risle. Miles Crispin, in his Li fe of William, the third abbot of Le Bec, thus describes th e abbot's origin: "Willelmus, nobli Northmanorum prosapia o riginem trabens, in veteri castro super Rislam quid dicitu r Montfortis, claris parentibus est exortus. Pater ejus Tu ristinus, mater Albereda dicebatur, Rogerii de Bellomonte p atris Roberti comitis ex sorore neptis." At the time of th e abbot's birth (circa 1054) the seigneur of Montfort was H ugh, but the language used suggests that Th urstan was a mem ber of that family, the more so as he bore the same name a s its founder, Thurstan de Bastenbourg. Roger de Beaumon t was father of Henry, 1st Earl of Warwick, who would thu s be Thurstan's first cousin by marriage; Montfort-sur-Risl e is about 15 miles distant from Beaumont-le-Roger. The re peated occurrence of the name Thurstan among the Montfort s of Beaudesert, undertenants of the Earls of Warwick, take n in conjunction with the above facts, points to somewhat s trongly to the probability of their being a younger branc h of the family of Montfort-sur-Risle. (c) [actually about Thurstan's elder brother Robert, but i t also applies to Thurstan] Robert was probably son of Thur stan de Mundford, who, as one of the barons of Henry, Ear l of Warwick, attested the Earl's charter to Abingdon in th e days of Abbot Reynold, who d. 1097. This Thurstan was ve ry possibly of the house of Montfort of Montfort-sur-Risl e (see note "b" above), but the connection has not been pro ved. Robert's brother Thurstan held land in Berks in 1130 , and property there was held by his descendants till the d eath of the last heir male. That there was a Thurstan prec eding Robert at Preston, and ancestor of Piers, who d. 1287 , was proved to the satisfaction of the jury of the Hundre d in 1275, who found that Preston used to be the demesne o f William the Conqueror, who gave it to the Earl who was a t Warwick, whose name they did not know, to hold by the ser vice of 1 1/2 knight's fee, and the said Earl gave it to on e Thurstan, ancestor of Piers de Montfort who was killed a t Evesham, who held, and his widow held, by the same servic e of the Earl of Warwick. ------------------------------- Note: The Plantagenet Ancestry, by Turton, p. 88, has Thurs tan as son of Adeline de Beaumont & Hugh de Montfort, son o f Gilbert de Gant & Alice (Jeanne) de Montfort, daughter o f Hugh de Montfort mentioned by CP above. There is partia l support for this by Ancestral Roots (the Gilbe rt de Gan t & Alice de Montfort marriage), as well as full support fr om Burke's Extinct Peerage. I find nothing in the above fr om CP persuasive enough to say the other sources are wrong. ------------------------------- Thurstan de Montfort, being enfeoffed of divers fair lordsh ips by Henry de Newburgh, the 1st Earl of Warwick, erecte d a stony castle, called Beldesert, at the chief seat of hi s family in Warwickshire, which it continued for several su bsequent ages. To this Thurstan, who d. before 1190, s. hi s son, Henry de Montfort.
