Despite the demise of the lordship as a result of the French Revolution, the title of Prince of Talmont is still carried Honorary.

First Princes of Talmont (c. 1020-1098)
. v. 1020-1049: Guillaume I de Talmont, Said William the Bald, first prince of Talmont. He began construction of the Talmont Castle around 1020 and founded the abbey of St. Croix de Talmont around 1040-1049.
. 1049-v. 1058: William II of Talmont, known as William the Younger,son of William the Bald.
. v. 1058-v. 1074: Cadelon, husband of Asceline or Agnes, sister of William the Younger. It is this prince who changes the bell tower-porche church to make it the basis of the Talmont dungeon.
. v. 1074-1078: Normand de Montrevault who claimed the lordship as the husband of Ameline, daughter of William the Younger. This posed problems of succession since Asceline was still alive, his sons Guillaume and Pépin opposed Normand's claims. The Count-Duke William VIII of Aquitaine took charge of the lordship and gave his preference for Normand, who kept the lordship until his death. He also placed Airaud de Fabriciis and a certain Pierre, son of Mainard, as guardians directors of Talmont.

Note: 1. CADELON (-10 Aug [1074/76]). Seigneur de Talmont. The Tabularius Vindocinense records that "miles…Cadolo dictus de Talamonte" claimed "medietatem ecclesiarum et decima de Olona" donated by "Agnes comitissa" to the monastery of Vendôme, recorded in a charter dated 1068. The obituary of Talmont Abbey records the death 10 Aug of "Cadelo princeps." m ASCELINE, daughter of GUILLAUME [I] Seigneur de Talmont & his wife --- (-[1092]). "Guillermus, Talemontis castri princeps et dominus" founded the abbey of Talmont, with the consent of "filiorum meorum Willelmi atque Pippini…cum filia mea Ascelina," by charter dated to [1049][916]. A charter dated to [1058/74] records that, after the deaths of "Willelmi et Pipini filiorum primi Willelmi Calvi" who built "Talemontem castrum," their successor was "Kadelo" who married "eorum sororem…Ascelinam" and records his donations to Talmont abbey "cum uxore mea et filiis meis Willelmo et Pipino" as well as other donations. "Domina Ascelina," on her deathbed, donated property to Talmont by charter dated to [1092]. Cadelon & his wife had two children:
