=== Life Sketch ===
Tinténiac is mentioned for the first time in 1032 in the cartulary of Saint-Georges Abbey of Rennes , the church and the town are then given there by the Duke of Brittany Alain III to his sister Adèle I re († 1067), Abbess of Saint-Georges de Rennes in 1032 , on the occasion of the foundation of the abbey .
The Abbey retrocedes from 1036 part of its fief to the knight Donoual or Donoald. The abbess then asked Donoual to build a fortified castle to protect his land (it is a fortress now replaced by the Château de Montmuran ). The successors of Donoal long will the name of Ishmaelites , perhaps after a pilgrimage to the Holy Land made by William at the beginning of xi th century . They take the name of Tinténiac at the end of xii th century .
The seigniory of Tinténiac was a châtellenie of seniority and extended on seven parishes , with a right of high justice.
In 1168 , Henri II , king of England , warrior against Eudon de Porhoët destroyed from top to bottom the castle of Tinténiac . It was then that the heirs of the Ishmaelites built the Château de Montmuran at some distance from Tinténiac , in the parish of Iffs .
In 1351 , the knight Jean de Tinténiac distinguished himself in the Combat des Trente which took place at Mi-Voie near Josselin .
Isabeau de Tinténiac , the only daughter of Jean de Tinténiac married around 1347 Jean de Laval , lord of Châtillon-en-Vendelais . She brought to the Laval family all the lordship of Tinténiac-Montmuran.
