Abbot Angot has established that in 985-989 he was the restaurateur of the abbey of Évron. It has been wished to rob him of this honor for the benefit of the Viscount of Blois, but, although the attempt has succeeded, the fact is against all probability and denied by many monuments. It is indeed to Viscounts Raoul III that we owe the bold dungeon of Evron, like those of Sainte-Suzanne, Thorigné-en-Charnie, and Courtaliéru at Vimarcé. Raoul III was mentioned in 990 with his son Geoffroy in the donation of Gué-Bernisson to Couture; it is supposed at least; in 994 for the concession of fair and markets by Count Hugues II of Maine to the abbey of Evron; witness, at Fresnay, of two charters in favor of Mont-Saint-Michel given by Yves and Guy, August 12, 997. He went to Rome to confirm by Pope John XVI, his foundation of Evron, and lived very old after 1003. In his later years, he gave two coliberts to Saint-Florent de Saumur, and attended the donation by Guy, son of Lon, of the Joué-l'Abbé road rights to the Abbey of the Couture. sources Family: posted by: Marie-Thérèse LEMOINE neiges, uploaded by: Sylvia PETRY (sflorentin)
