Roger (I), is described as a viscount in the 2nd half of the 10th century. He would be the father of Néel (I).
Néel (I), son and successor of the previous one, mentioned as one of the ducal justiciars of Normandy in 1036 and cited in 1040. He won the battle of Val de Saire in 1001 against the Anglo-Saxon army of King Æthelred II of England, and repelled a Breton invasion in 1033.
Néel (II), son and successor of the previous one, was present at the battle of Val-ès-Dunes in 1047 alongside the viscount of Bessin, Ranulph de Briquessart. Wace tells us that Néel then went into exile in Brittany, where he was close to Eudes, brother of Duke Alain III9. He lost his Cotentinian honour, which he only regained in 1054. In 1067, he founded the abbey of Saint-Sauveur-le-Vicomte, with Benedictines from the abbey of Jumièges10. He died around 1078.
Eudes, according to Léopold Delisle, son and successor of the previous one. He should not be confused with Eudes au Chapel (+1098), Viscount of Cotentin after Néel II, who is the founder of the de La Haye family and, with his father, of Lessay Abbey between 1056 and 1064. In 1104, Eudes de Saint-Sauveur reaffirmed the freedoms previously granted to the abbey of Saint-Sauveur .
Néel (III) of Saint-Sauveur, successor of the previous one in the honour of Saint-Sauveur, definitively founded around 1080 the abbey of Saint-Sauveur-le-Vicomte founded by Néel II,. Néel II had lost his position as viscount of the duke in Cotentin after 1047, but Néel III regained it and signed two acts with this title in June 1080 and in 1081-1082. According to Elisabeth van Houts, he took part in Raoul de Gaël's conspiracy in England.
