  Hugh was Bishop of Constances, in Normandy, 990; was living 1020. He married a niece of Gunnora, the wife of Richard I, d. 996, Duke of Normandy. They had four sons: Roger, Odain, Rodolphus and Godfrey. The Manor of Pierrepount was one of the largest, if not the largest in County Sussex, and called Hurst-Pierpoint. The manor had been known simply as Hurst before it was changed in later years to Hurst-Monceux. There can be no question that the Pierpoints enjoyed this manor in unbroken male descent from the Conquest for 300 years.
