  Little is known about the reign of Maredudd, who succeeds his father Tewdwr ap Rhain. His death is recorded by the Annales Cambriae in 796-797 . This date coincides with the Mercia raids against the kingdom of Dyfed and he may have been killed during this conflict. His successor is his eldest son Rhain ap Maredudd
