  Matilda (Mawd) was the daughter of William de Braose and Mathilde de Saint-Valéry. She married Gruffydd ap Yr Arglwydd Rhys, Prince of South Wales, in 1189.
  
  Gruffydd had at least five children, at least two sons with Mawd:
  
  1.) Rhys "Ieuanc" ap Gruffydd, d. Aug 1222; had a son
  
  2.) Owain ap Gruffydd, b. Abt 1190, d. 18 Jan 1236, Strata Florida Abbey, Cardiganshire, Wales (Age ~ 46 years); m. a daughter of Gwion Sais
