  Grifinus filius Meredut is the Latin form appearing in the Annales Cambriæ when his 1128 death was recorded.
  
  1093 Birth and Parentage
  Gruffudd was born in 1093 in Montgomeryshire, Wales.
  
  Boyer, confirming the names but not the dates, states that Gruffudd was the son of Maredudd ap Bleddyn born Montgomery, Wales 1047 and Hunydd ferch Einudd, born 1063 in Denbighshire.
  
  Cawley states that Gruffudd's parents were Maredudd and Efa.
  
  Marriage to Gwerful
  Cawley states that Gruffudd married Gwerfyl, daughter and heiress of Gwrgeno ap Hywel Lord of Caer or Clydewen & his wife ____. Boyer adds that he married Gwerful ferch Gwrgeneu, "lord of Arnstly" (Arwistly) ap Hywel ab Ieuaf ap Cadwgon ab Elystan Glodrydd.

  1113 Attack upon Castle of Uchtryd
  The Chronicle of the Princes of Wales records that "Einon son of Cadwgan son of Bleddyn and Gruffudd son of Maredudd son of Bleddyn joined together to make an attack upon the castle of Uchtryd son of Edwin" in 1113. Boyer describes the 1113 attack as one in which Gruffudd joined his cousin Einion ap Cadwgon in taking the castle at Cymmer in Meirionydd from "Uchtryd ap Edwin," and took Meirionydd, Cyfeiliog and Penllyn.
  
  1116 Of Record
  Boyer states that Gruffudd was of record in 1116 and died in 1128 [2] but doesn't describe the occasion of which Gruffudd was of record.
  
  1128 Death
  Cawley states that Gruffudd died in the period 1125-1128, noting that the Chronicle of the Princes of Wales records that "Gruffudd son of Maredudd son of Bledyn" died in 1125 and that the Annales Cambriæ record the death in 1128 of "Grifinus filius Meredut". Boyer selects 1128 as the death date.
  
  The 1128 death location sometimes appears as Montgomeryshire, Wales.
  
  Issue
  Gruffydd & his wife had two children, Owain and Meurig. Gruffudd also had two children by an unnamed mother. His minor sons were raised after his death by their uncle, Madog, after their grandfather died.
  
  1.) Owain Cyfeliog, born around 1125, child of Gruffudd and Gwerful, d. 1197. The Chronicle of the Princes of Wales records that "Madog son of Maredudd built the castle of Oswestry" in 1148 and "gave Cyveiliog to his nephews Owain and Meurug, the sons of Gruffudd son of Maredudd". Prince of Southern Powys 1160. He abdicated. He marriedd (1) Gwellian ferch Owain Gwynedd, m. (2) Gewnllian ferch Ednywaiin.
  
  2.) Meurig, child of Gruffudd and his mistress, living 1149-1156, m. daughter of Gruffudd Carno ap Hywell (d. 1185, of Talgarth, Trefeglwys) ap Ieuaf (d. 1130) ab Owain ap Trahaearn (d. 1081) of Arwystli) ap Caradog. The Chronicle of the Princes of Wales records that "Madog son of Maredudd built the castle of Oswestry" in 1148 and "gave Cyveiliog to his nephews Owain and Meurug, the sons of Gruffudd son of Maredudd".
  
  3.) Margred, child of Gruffudd and unnamed mother (not named by Bartrum), m. Iinion Ddistain ab Iorwerth ap Gwrgeneu ab Uchtrud ab Aleth :Brenin dyfed" (Prince of Dyfed).
  
  4.) Rhirid Foel, child of Gruffudd and unnamed mother (not named by Bartrum) whose daughter Jane m. Iorwerth Dalwaith ap Hywel ap Moriddig ap Sandde Hardd. Rhirid must have been before Gruffudd's death in the year 1125.
